Reservoir Weekend
Saturday we were prefishing for the tournament and the SBWC was also having a club outing. A huge thanks to the folks who brought the hot dogs and chips, and also to the weiner master for grilling them up. The food was much needed for those of us who had been out fishing since 6:30am. The weather was nice, as it usually is the day before the tournament. The fishing was fair, we eliminated some water and caught a few fish.

Late Picture Update.
Just getting around to sorting out some pictures from the past week. Be sure to click 'Read More' to see the rest of this item.
Here's a walleye that I thought had really strange coloring. I caught one just before this one that was the normal gold and black. This is a natural lake fish. This picture doesn't do much justice to it, as I was trolling with the tiller trying to control my course and running boards so I snapped this haphazardly. He has a rosy or pinkish tint, somewhat brown or maroon sides. The eyes on this male were even different than the previous fish, larger and almost glowing. I have named him devil fish, and he still swims. I know he was a male because of the milt all over my boat. Spawning colors? Leave a comment. Notice I love my spinners, no matter what time of year.

Sunburned and feeling alright.....opening weekend
This might have to be quick, I can barely keep my eyes open at this hour. The opener was met with sunny skies and good conditions for those of fishing inland lakes. Walleyes in the Flint river system were dropping back down the river as the water receeded from a recently shut dam. Everyone was catching fish of some sort, but keepers were tough to come by. We jigged all day on the opener and trolled cranks on day 2 on bigger water. The good news is the trolling bite was on at full speed, perhaps due to the warm weather, I don't look for it to really heat up for 3 weeks or so.
Read more for a couple pictures of a big crappie that nabbed a crankbait trolled fast.

Game Time!
It's 5am opening morning, many folks are already fishing. It is chilly outside, about 45 degrees with a very light west breeze, but the air is thick with mist. Suck down some more coffee and throw your gear in the boat.
